I’m fond of reminding musicians that ‘marketing isn’t selling’ however every now and again we have to pull out all the stops and try and sell ourselves, our music and our shows. This is very true if we’re trying to get people to come along to one of our gigs.
Going out is an investment (of money and time) so you need to be persuasive. You can’t just tell your fans they need to come, you should be telling them WHY they should go. Here are some reasons and some suggested text for your social media posts:
What Will They Get?
“Come to The Zanzibar this Saturday for us and three other fantastic bands. It’s going to be an unmissable night of rock music”.
- Sell the show by empahsizing the benefits of attending. If its a night of unmissable music, tell them that
Scarcity
“It’s been AGES since we played The Zanzibar, you won’t want to miss our return this Saturday”
“This might be your last chance to see us for a while at The Zanzibar this Saturday, don’t miss us, we don’t know when we’ll be back!”
New Material
“We’ll be debuting TWO new songs at The Zanzibar this Saturday, come along and be the first to hear our brand new stuff”.
Uniqueness
“As it’s St Patrick’s Day this weekend, our forthcoming show at The Zanzibar features a one off section devoted to the songs of our favourite Irish artists. You won’t want to miss it”
Special Offers
“We’ve got a merch stall special at our gig at The Zanzibar this Saturday. Buy our brand new t-shirt and get a copy of our EP absolute free. This Saturday only!”
