If you’re a Netflix user like me, you’ll notice that their content thumbnails change regularly. Why is that? Well, put simply it seems that changing the thumbnail increases the engagement.

Have you noticed how Netflix continually gives you new thumbnails?
Research from Vevo suggests that old videos with new thumbnails see a 12% increase in views in the first 20 days, followed by a sustained increase long term.
As a double benefit, the YouTube algorithm recognises the increase in views and will recommend the videos to more users also. Win win.
So, it might be worth spending a day or so on Photoshop this weekend creating new, catchy thumbnails for all your music videos!
