It’s good practice to use multiple platforms to inform your audience about your upcoming shows. Bandsintown, the concert discovery and ‘fan tracking’ platform often gets a mention on this blog, and I think it’s underused by a lot of artists.
Fans using the platform can track you and get informed of new shows and you can use their ‘widget’ to help manage the ‘gigs’ page of your website..
You’ve always been able to send a ‘post’ to followers ‘en masse’ using the service however sending a post to followers based on their location (such as to say ‘hey we have a show in your city next month’ has previously been a paid for feature. Not any more, if you have less than 10,000 trackers you can currently request ‘VIP Access’ to use this feature for free. You just need to send them an email to do this.

With Bandsintown you can ‘geo target’ your messages by location.
I’ve just messaged my audience about a show near a city I’m playing in a couple of weeks. I optioned to send a message to people within 18km of that city. BiT told me I had 178 trackers in that location and estimated I would reach 80 people.

Turns out I can send a message to 763 of my trackers who live in a 25 km radius of London
A neat little free tool which should be part of your show promotion weaponry.
Got any questions about this post or how you can better market yourself?
