How To Get More Engagement On Your Facebook Posts

We saw yesterday how Facebook uses the Edgerank algorithm to filter your posts so only some of your fans will see it rather than all of them.  Here are some tips to increase that engagement so more of them WILL see it.

engagement

1) Have a call to action.

A call to action is where you seek a response from your fans.  Examples include “What if your favourite track on the new album?”,  “Who is excited about us coming to play in [insert tour date here]?” etc. The more responses and engagement the more it will be seen. I was going to suggest keeping it relevant to your band or your music but my band did once ask on Facebook “Coke or Pepsi?” and it generated one of the biggest responses ever. See what works with your fanbase.

2) Run competitions.

I’ve found competitions where fans have to like and respond to a Facebook post with a generic strapline eg “[your band name] rules OK!” to win very popular and have incredibly good reach.
