In the age of social media, street teams are a forgotten part of most band’s marketing strategy.
A street team is the name given to your superfans who ‘hit the streets’ helping to promote your music, events etc. They can help promote your music online (spreading the word via Twitter etc), put up posters of your gigs in towns where you’ll be playing next and be all round ‘ambassadors’ helping to raise awareness of you and your music.
It’s a cost effective method of promotion too. You can pay them in free merch, free tickets or you can give them some exclusive perks like inviting them to attend soundchecks etc.
