Your new single has dropped. It’s HOT and you want the maximum number of people to hear about it on day one. Here are seven things you can do on the day of release to make that happen.
Upload The Promo Video
Upload the video to YouTube on the day of release with a message to your subscribers “Check out the amazing video for our brand new single which drops today”. Ask people to watch and share!
It goes without saying that you should have the song’s video on YouTube. Post it on the day of release for maximum impact.
Facebook Video Of Course
Upload the video to Facebook. To ensure good reach consider boosting the post either to your fanbase and friends or another appropriately targeted audience.

Facebook Video will get you great reach.
Pump Out A Mailshot
Send an email to your mailing list which includes an embedded YouTube video, embedded Spotify player, the Soundcloud version as well as links to paid downloads if you’re selling on iTunes or Bandcamp. Again ask your audience to help and spread the word.

Your mailing list is one of the most effective ways to reach your fans!
Make It News On Your Website
Create a news story on your website on the day of release. In a similar fashion to the mailout make sure this page features every format of the single for people to consume (YouTube, Spotify player etc.).
Have a dedicated page on your website with all the options to consume the track.
Work Your Twitter Fanbase
Take a screengrab of the track playing on your phone, post it with #np #newmusicfriday hashtags. Get your Twitter followers to do the same. You can do this on Instagram also.

Posting a screengrab of the single playing on your phone is a great way to let people know you have music out. Ask your faans to do the same.
Make A Video Announcement
Make a video announcement telling people that your new single is out now. When doing this on Facebook, use the Power Editor for this post and you can include a URL in a call to action button. This can point people to the dedicated page for the release on your website.

Speaking to your fans 1 to 1 is the best way to get their attention.
Ask The Local Scene To Help
Message other local bands and musicians saying that your new single is out and can they help with a post or two about it to their fans on social media. Offer to do the same the next time they have a new release out.
