How To Get Your Fans To A Show Using Bandsintown

It can be hard making sure that your fans know you have a show in their area. Bandsintown is an often overlooked website/app that can help you do just that.  The service has 23 million users who are notified when their favourite artists are playing a show near them. Neat.

How does it know where you are playing? Well, Bandsintown can link your Facebook account to import your Facebook events or you can upload your shows direct to the the Bandsintown website.

The site has a ‘widget’ which allows you to create a ‘events’ tab on your own website which you can also use on Facebook (though I would still make sure the events are listed as separate Facebook events).

Your fans might already be using Bandsintown; my own band has accumulated 7000 ‘trackers’ on the service. If not, tell your fans to sign up and ‘track’ you on there in the same way that you would promote your social links eg

As well as getting automatic notifications whenever you play in their area, you can even send your fans a personal message of up to 1000 words.  Annoyingly, they have to log in to the website to read the message but you can customise the first 50 characters of the email subject line to give them an idea of the topic.
