Musicians: Reflect On 2018 And Plan Your Marketing For 2019

As the year draws to a close, it’s time to do both a spot of reflection on the year just gone and an element of planning for the year that’s about to happen.

Survey the year that has just happened; what elements of your music marketing worked and what things didn’t go quite as well as you’d hoped.  Is there a ‘type’ of video that works well with your audience that you need to do more of? Which media outlets and blogs gave you coverage and which ignored you?

For next year: Do you have your releases planned (singles or albums) on your calendar? Do you need to think more about marketing your old music that hasn’t found an audience yet? What work do you need to do to get more shows? Do you need to work on a strategy for YouTube covers? Do you need to improve your facebook ads techniques (or do you even need to START using Facebook ads? Do you need to lean more into getting your stuff on playlists?  Have you done any research on finding festivals where you’d like to play next year?

Got any questions about this post or how you can better market yourself?
