Today, I’m starting a short series about storytelling and music marketing. Storytelling isn’t something most musicians think about when marketing their music however potentially it’s one of the most powerful tools you have at your disposal.
Why is storytelling so important? Well stories are a universal ‘language’ that everyone can understand. Stories engage and entertain us. Think about films, tv shows…they’re all stories. Stories drive and fuel our imagination. They can educate us also help us retain information (think about a TED talk). Ultimately, stories are how we actually make sense of the world.
So, if you use storytelling when marketing your music you’ll become more entertaining and engaging, your audience should understand you more, and you’ll be more memorable to them. What’s not to like.
