One way of getting new followers on Twitter is to engage and have conversations with influencers. Influencers are people who not only have more followers than you but who also command some sort of weight or respect in their field. For music these people could be bloggers, DJs, fanzines, music journalists, other bands (with a larger fanbase than yours), radio stations…you get the idea.
Follow these influencers, reply to their tweets and enter into conversations with them. If they RT you, you’ll be ‘broadcasted’ to a whole new audience which normally results in a raft of new followers. This isn’t just an excuse to blatantly plug your music by the way, have real meaningful conversations with these people (and indulge in the fun stuff too).
