There has been a recent survey from event ticketing company Eventbrite which talks about music discovery and how it effects an artist. Here’s are the findings.
These little nuggests interested me:
- 51% of those surveyed buy tickets to see artists they discover through streaming.
- 57% of those surveyed buy tickets to see artists they discover through social media.
- 74% of those surveyed buy tickets to see artists that they first discovered at a live show or festival.
What does that means for you? Well, it’s further proof that freemium streaming Spotify/Youtube etc. is now a loss leader for your live shows. In addition, good use of social media will drive ticket sales and the act of playing a festival (getting you infront of people who’ve never seen you before) is a good way of getting them to your shows.
