Why Musicians Need To Start Broadcasting Live

Facebook recently ran an outdoor advertising campaign encouraging their users to start broadcasting ‘live’.

The campaign was all about getting ordinary people to use Facebook as a tool to show their friends something amazing, to help give publicity to a cause they believed in or just to have fun.

The idea that the ordinary person in the street is now a ‘content creator’ begs the question “if the ordinary person in the street is a video broadcaster, as a musician WHY AREN’T YOU?”.

The barriers to video content creation are incredibly low and most people have (or have access to) to a smartphone for video recording and broadcast.  Facebook prioritises live video in its user’s newsfeed above everything else so it’s one of THE killer marketing tools you can use.

If you have a message that you want to get out to your fans (such as news of a live event or music release), if you want to show people how good your singing is or the level of your musical prowess you can show and tell that by going live. Whether Facebook or Periscope see what going live can do for your music marketing.
