Yesterday, I self submitted my latest single to Spotify for possible inclusion on their inhouse playlists. It’s a very easy process. Once you’ve submitted to your aggregator and had it approved it’s just a couple of steps:
- Log into your Spotify For Artists page.
- Go To Catalogue – Upcoming Music page and select the new release for submission
- Fill out the boxes which give the playlisters an overview of the attributes of your track. Notice how one of the boxes lists ‘Moods’, moods are important for playlisters.
4. Give a few words about the track and how it will be promoted (they want to see you push the track outside Spotify).
Statistically, people who apply stand a one in ten chance of inclusion so you’d be daft not to submit all your music via this.
Takeaway Tip:
In a world of mood based playlists, should you be writing more music for moods?
Got any questions about this post or how you can better market yourself?
