Lyric videos on YouTube should be an important part of a song release campaign however there has never been any easy way to create them   If you have a Mac and Final Cut X you now use can use a plug in from Pixel Film Studios called PROKARAOKE.

You can use it to create text only lyric videos as I have done here.

You can also add karaoke style lyric overlays to your existing videos.
